I like the idea of going underground. You could open up very interesting story lines. Additionally, there could be entrances to those areas from anywhere previously explored but only if your character has completed all the primary and bonus for "chapter 1"

Maybe an underground charr civilization.

I don't like the underwater ideas. To FFX

The are some great ruins in between the black curtain and fisherman's haven that could be the tombs of the ancient Krytan elder gods or something.
I believe we will get a good primeval forest in the expansion as this is one of the few types not covered in the first chapter.

While adventuring after quests, I found some cool places. Places where the artistic magnitude of the GW team shows brightly.

One such place is in the Falls (maguuma jungle). It takes along time to get there and lots of trolls to kill, but in the end the view makes it all worth it.

Where is this on Map, lol hope these pics show up:

Well I thought ited be really cool if there was a tree vine leading into the waterfalls, where a small outpost/fort would be. Kinda like a hole in the wall place (like Grendich Courthouse), where cool skills could be learned. This is on the very edge of the area map, so im not sure if a fort/outpost could fit. Ited be a hard place to get to, but hopefully it would be rewarding once there.

Then there the all famous (not) Dragons Gullet, north of Flame Temple Corridor. When you come to a spot near the end, it looks like an outpost portal should be there, but there isnt one. This is also a place that takes awhile to get to, but an outpost with cool skill trainer would be nice. Also a fort here could lead the way to more exploration of Char home territories, a base only for those that like to Pwn (kill) Char Beasts would likely visit.

Kinda like a backdoor into the Char homeland, lol.

-More areas sound to fill the empty spots of the map, sounds like a wonderful idea!

awesome ideas for new places: there's good opportunity for expansion without the map expanding.

I very much agree with you on these ideas. I'd love to see a little secret base behind a waterfall.
You made a good point about that bit in Dragon's Gullet. I was thinking, there could be a battered fort outpost there with only a few guards, and from the walls you could see the Charr running south to the Breach. And archers could be trying to shoot ones that come too close. Just like D'Alessio.
From that fort there could then be a portal that takes you into a narrow valley that goes north, and on the other side of the valley the Charr armies are running south, so you are avoiding them. Then, you could come out and there are all these high level patrolling Charr and you go further and further into their bases and stuff.

Some of my ideas:

Orr
In the manuscripts, it mentioned that nearly all of the Orrians were killed in the cataclysm, but not necessarily all. I'd imagine the survivors fleeing to the southwestern shore of the Shiverpeaks right across the sea. For this area, I'd imagine a Scandanavian type landscape, with lots of snow-covered peaks in the background and lush but cold lands in the foreground. It would be very remote, since supposedly very few Orrians did survive.
From a port somewhere in this area, you should be able to take a ship to the remains of Orr. I'd say this area would be something like an Atlantis-type setting, kinda like the sunken areas in Warcraft III: TFT. Maybe you could even go underwater through some powerful magic.

South of Maguuma Jungle
I'd imagine some sort of lush Amazonia with ruins of temples, like the Yucatan peninsula. Not too much, though, and it should be different from the Maguuma jungle. I've had enough of that place.

South of Ascalon
I don't imagine too much for this region. In pre-searing, the one ranger quest you get from Aidan takes you right up to the edge, and the mountains aren't really that high :O. I'd say just something connecting Ascalon and the Crystal desert would be nice, like a Lornar's pass/snake dance type of thing.

North of Kryta
I pretty much agree with the "Guild Wars vikings" concept here, and would really like to see that implemented

Great thread... I would think that some of these areas might be expanded in the same way they did Sorrow's Furnace... as a Free Update... Isn't Volume 2 supposed to be a seperate map? Please correct me if I am wrong...

You are correct, Chapter 2 is supposed to have equivalent content to Chapter 1. What you might eventually see with these hidden areas on the current map is them getting filled in with new maps just like Sorrows Furnace, but that's purely speculation.

the more content there is to explore the more the fun game. More maps like sorrow's furnace would be sweet.
